French movie star Geneviève Page, 97, died in Paris on Feb. 14. From her debut in 1951 (Pas de Pitié pour les Femmes) till her swan song in 2003 (Rien que du Bonheur), Page appeared in numerous Italian, French, British and American films—her US and UK vehicles included El Cid, Youngblood Hawke, Grand Prix, Mayerling, Foreign Intrigue, Song Without End, The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes, and A Talent for Loving—of course, she was much busier in French films, including Luis Buñuel’s Belle du Jour. Her French stage career began in the late 1940s, and she was still on the boards in the ’90s. “I'm interested in everything,” Page said in 2013, “it's curiosity that makes us survive.” From an intellectual and artistic family (her godfather was Christian Dior), she airily added that “I know all my flaws, and they make me laugh . . . My beautiful spring and summer have jumped out of the window."
