Australian actor Julian McMahon (Nip/Tuck, Fantastic Four), died of cancer on July 2. He was 56. The son of Prime Minister Sir Billy McMahon, Julian started his career as a print and runway model, then came to prominence in the Aussie TV shows The Power, the Passion and Home and Away. He moved to L.A. for Wet and Wild Summer! in 1993, and was soon cast in recurring roles as Ian Rain in Another World, Detective Grant in Profiler, Cole Turner in Charmed, Dr. Troy in Nip/Tuck, Agent LaCroix in FBI: Most Wanted, and, most recently, in The Residence. He also played the marvelously named Victor Von Doom in two Fantastic Four super-hero movies. Of his early years, McMahon said, “I always look back on Home and Away with fondness, especially when I'm in the UK. But I had no idea what I was doing back then. I just fell into acting. It was only later that I became passionate about it.” He was married to singer Dannii Minogue and actress Brooke Burns before settling down with his third wife. Of his dual-country life and career, he noted, “I feel like I'm Australian on the inside and American on the outside or something. I love Australians, Australianisms, I love my part of being Australian. I love where I grew up and how I grew up and, you know, I wouldn't change it for the world.”
