Mary Kate Golding, ca. 1992 – 2026

Set designer Mary Kate Golding (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Gotham, Goosebumps) was found stabbed to death in her Astoria, Queens, home on July 21. She was 34. Her husband, Joseph Azzaretto, was found dead in nearby Astoria Park, and the crime is being treated as a murder/suicide. Golding most famously designed the mid-century modern and old-world Brooklyn sets of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. An NYU grad, she also designed for The Big Sick, Hawkeye, Extrapolations, Marry Me, Full Circle, Gone Girls: The Long Island Serial Killer, and the upcoming Deep Cuts. Golding’s father-in-law, Frank Azzaretto, had worked as set dresser on Daredevil and Unforgettable, and in 2020 was killed by his son, Joseph’s younger brother.
