Actress Renée Victor, 72, died on May 30 (some sources give her birthdate as 1938, which is quite a jump from 1953).  Victor was best known for playing the feisty Lupita the maid on Weeds. She started her career as a nightclub dancer and choreographer; she also performed in regional theaters all over the US. Victor appeared in supporting roles in nearly 100 films and TV shows between 1984 and this year, most notably The Apostle, The Wonderful Ice Cream Suit, ER, Confessions of a Shopaholic, A Night in Old Mexico, Coco (voicing Abuelita), SuperFly, Snowpiercer, Victor & Valentino, Dead to Me, and With Love. Victor told interviewer Lisa Rosen of her health tips: “I play very danceable music, and I dance in my socks by myself in my living room. I lift small weights three times a week, and do some yoga. I also use a hula hoop, and darling, I think I could do that for a month. I have to stop myself!” That must be why she could pass as either 72 or 87.
