My stars and garters, there are so many social media influencers, Tik-Tokers and gamers dead that I have to usher them all into one obit. Arizona-based Yarely Ashley Hermosillo, 27, was killed by a stray bullet on Aug. 15 (a suspect has been arrested). Hermosillo was known for her cooking and lifestyle posts on Facebook, Instagram and TikTok. Falstaffian Tik-Toker John Crawley, 47, died on Aug. 18. Known online as KingBeardX, Crawley was a comedian who posted “hilarious reactions to people eating food,” which earned him 2.5 million followers (I’ll be lucky if 60 people read this post!). He had been in poor health for several weeks. Controversial French “content creator and streamer” Jean Pormanove, 46, died during a livestream on Aug. 18. He was best known for his abusive, humiliating “games” on Kick, which are now being investigated by the French government. And soon-to-be-married content creators Stacey Tourout and Matthew Yeomans died in an Aug. 7 off-roading accident in British Columbia (their vehicle went off a 700-foot cliff). Tourout and Yeomans ran the YouTube channel Toyota World Runners and had some 200,000 followers of their travels, RV maintenance, and car and RV retrofits.
