TV host Charles Mitchell "Big Chuck" Schodowski, 90, has died, his family announced on Jan. 19. Schodowski began hosting TV shows for Cleveland’s WJW-TV, with Ernie “Ghoulardi” Anderson. From 1979-2007, the big, hulking Schodowski and the tiny "Lil' John" Rinaldi hosted Big Chuck and Lil' John. It was one of those comedy/movie shows wherein the hosts interrupted old (mostly horror) movies with sketches and music—the sort of thing some people adore, and which makes other people want to rip off our own arms and beat ourselves to death with them. Fellow TV host Bob Wells told The Plain Dealer of Schodowski’s sketches, “A lot of them look cheap, and most were done with no rehearsals. But Chuck is a genius. He could sit in a bar and hear some guy tell a joke and be able to visualize it or would be driving and see something and then pull over and come up with a skit right away." And Lil' John added, "We're two normal, working-class guys that the public could relate to. You can't overthink this stuff - I was a card in high school, and I act the same way with Chuck."
