UK-born Australian singer Bobby Bright (Bobby & Laurie), 80, died on July 19. Bright was already a rising solo artist ("Girls Never Notice Me," "Defeated by His Heart") when he teamed with Laurie (Laurence) Allen; the two had hits with “I Belong with You,” “Hitch Hiker,” "The Carroll County Accident," and "Through The Eyes of Love.” Bobby & Laurie toured, recorded, and appeared on such TV shows as The Go!! Show, Dig We Must, and Teen Scene (they also appeared as as Tweedledum and Tweedledee in an Alice in Wonderland pantomime). Through the decades, Bobby & Laurie split up and reunited several times. Bright also acted, on Homicide, and onstage in Tommy. Laurie Allen died in 2002.
