Musician, songwriter, and singer Camryn Magness, 26, died in Miami on Dec. 5 when the electric scooter she was riding collided with a pedestrian (who, along with Magness’s fellow rider, is still hospitalized). The granddaughter of Celestial Seasonings co-founder Mo Siegel, she first became known on YouTube (the Major Bowes Amateur Hour of today), and eventually went on to tour with such acts as One Direction, Greyson Chance, Cody Simpson, and Fifth Harmony. She also toured on her own, and raised money for arts in the classroom. Her singles included “Like Madonna,” “Now or Never,” “Lovesick,” and “Glow.” Magness acted, in Tennessee, Judy Moody and the Not Bummer Summer, and Crazy Kind of Love; she also sang on the TV series Heartbeat. Magness told interviewer Jazmin Williams, “I’ve always had an interest in a more edgy sound but didn’t quite understand how to properly execute it. As I got older I got to experience more and I grew up a lot. I was listening to more rock music and comparing it to what was top 40 and thought that the combination of both would be awesome!”
