Novelist and playwright Carey Harrison, 80, died on Jan. 23. The son of stage and screen stars Rex Harrison and Lilli Palmer, Carey, beginning in the 1960s, wrote such plays as Dante Kaputt, I Never Killed My German, Hitler in Therapy, A Cook's Tour of Communism, and Breakfast with Stalin. He also wrote 16 novels, including Richard's Feet, Justice, Who Was That Lady?, and Dog's Mercury. His half-brother, actor Noel Harrison, died in 2013. When this writer asked Carey Harrison about his mother’s opinion of Kay Kendall, who vamped Rex Harrison away from her, he recalled, “My mother would call Kay a husband-stealing homewrecker, and I would think, ‘How do you think you got him away from his first wife?’”
