I try not to get political herein, but the Corporation for Public Broadcasting just (Aug. 1) announced that it is shutting down because of President Trump’s and the Congress’s defunding. While big cities like that of Yours Truly will continue to run PBS shows otherwise funded on TV and radio on other stations, rural viewers will be left in the dark. And stations partially funded by the CPB will no longer be able to buy or produce many of the shows we now watch and listen to (Nature, Nova, All Things Considered, Frontline, PBS News Hour, Washington Week, Masterpiece, Mister Rogers' Neighborhood, Sesame Street, and American Experience). My beloved Sunday Night Bonnet Sagas will probably disappear. I don’t know what we can do, except donate to our local PBS station (both TV and radio), and remember this when election day comes around.
