“Paranormal investigator” Dan Rivera, 54, died on July 13 while on a New England Society for Psychic Research tour in Gettysburg. No cause has yet been announced. He was best known as the keeper of the “demonically possessed” Raggedy Ann doll Annabelle, whose story was featured in the films The Conjuring, Annabelle, Annabelle: Creation, and Annabelle Comes Home (Annabelle herself was along on this tour, but has not yet been taken into custody). Rivera was appointed head of the New England Society for Psychic Research in 2011; according to his bio, he became interested in h’ants after he “witnessed paranormal events occurring in his home.” I am going to keep in mind that the gentleman leaves a wife and four children, and simply opine that he was delusional, and not just a con artist (which, in his case, actually seems to be true).
