TV writer and producer David Flebotte, 67, has died, it was announced on July 8. Flebotte wrote episodes of such shows as Will & Grace, Suddenly Susan, The PJs (an Emmy nomination), The Geena Davis Show (I love her, why isn’t she still a big deal?), The Bernie Mac Show, 8 Simple Rules (poor John Ritter!), Desperate Housewives, Boardwalk Empire, and I’m Dying Up Here. He was also producer or co-producer (I am fuzzy on what a co-producer actually does), of many of those shows. His coworker Cindy Caponera posted, “Never in all of my television writing days did I meet a man so funny and kind, openhearted . . . I also never met a writer who loved writing as much as he did. And throughout his entire illness, he never stopped creating and working – never complaining – just such a great example of how to live and love.” And Laurie Parres added, “The funniest of the funniest. Unparalleled at spotting the absurd and transmuting it into comic relief, turning what stings into what saves us.”
