“Sex and the City Star Dies!” read the Express headline, so Imagine My Chagrin when I read that it was David Wilson Barnes, 52, who played Miranda’s love interest in one episode who had died, on July 30, of cancer. I think Express.co.uk needs a new dictionary. I couldn’t help think to myself, “are people who write headlines all complete idiots?” [shakes myself out of it] Barnes appeared on Broadway in The Lieutenant of Inishmore, Ink, and The Hills of California, as well as numerous Off-Broadway plays. He had continuing roles in TV’s Hell on Wheels, Halt and Catch Fire, The Son, George & Tammy, and The Gilded Age, as well as appearing in Capote, The Good Wife, The Bourne Legacy, Madame Secretary, Fosse/Verdon, and Bull. Barnes joked with interviewer Matt J. Horn that he got into acting because “My sister told me I couldn’t do it in the 6th grade, so I had to prove her wrong.” He added that “If you have to ask whether you should pursue acting or not, you shouldn’t, because you aren’t one. Acting is a compulsion, not a choice.”
