Denise “Mary Magdalene” Jarvis, 1992 – 2025

Internet star and plastic surgery/tattoo-addict Denise Jarvis—who posted as “Mary Magdalene”—fell or jumped from a hotel balcony in Phuket on Dec. 9 (I am leaning toward “jumped,” as what better place to kill yourself than Phuket?). She was 33. I am not going to make fun of the lady, as she obviously had issues—issues, hell, she had a subscription. But I want to know why the plastic surgeons and tattoo artists who did this to her aren’t in jail, or at least had their licenses revoked? Jarvis had 400,000 Instagram followers, and I have seen her referred to as an “influencer,” which is a terrifying notion (she had her eyes tattooed!) She seems to have been something of a performance artist, and according to posts from her brother and her friends, was a very nice person. Even Jarvis admitted that perhaps she had gone overboard—two years ago, when one of her 38J breast implants exploded, she posted, "I'm going to go back natural in not only my boobs but other parts of my body, too."
