Diane Delano, 67, best known for her roles in Popular and Northern Exposure, died “after a brief illness” on Dec. 13. The tough-looking blonde had a very busy career, which stretched from 1983 to this year. Her TV appearances included Days of Our Lives, St. Elsewhere, L.A. Law, Married…With Children, Desperate Housewives, Monk, NCIS, Cop Rock, Quantum Leap, 3rd Rock from the Sun, and Mom; Delano played Sergeant Barbara Semanski on Northern Exposure, and evil teacher Bobbi Glass (as well as her twin sister, Jessi) on the brilliant Popular (the best thing Ryan Murphy ever did, in this writer’s opinion). She also made a handful of movies, including Wicker Man, Heart Like a Wheel, and The River Wild.
