Australian actor Donald MacDonald, best known for presenting the 1960s educational children’s show Play School, died on July 1. He was 86. MacDonald also acted on the West End, and wrote the hit play Caravan. He appeared on Australian TV in Pathfinders, Skippy, Certain Women, The Box, Rake, Cop Shop, A Town Like Alice, and Skyways; he played a scientist in 2006’s Superman Returns. MacDonald’s cousin Amelia Bennett posted that “On Saturday we turned his hospital room into a party, laughs and smiles a-plenty, as Donald enjoyed some bubbly and lemon meringue pie! Blue was always his colour, even in a hospital gown.”
