French writer and actress Florence Delay, 84, died on July 1. The daughter and sister of writers Jean Delay and Claude Delay, she graduated from the Sorbonne and became a novelist, essayist, and translator (from Spanish to French), as well as as a member of the Académie Français. Delay also dabbled in acting: she was 21 when she starred in Robert Bresson’s Trial of Joan of Arc, and went on to appear in several short films, as well as 1978’s See Here My Love. She was married to producer Maurice Bernart, till his death earlier this year.
