Giorgia Moll, 1938 – 2026

Italian actress Giorgia Moll, 88, has died, it was announced on June 21. A popular model and singer, she was seen in the US as a Vietnamese girl in The Quiet American, and as Jack Palance’s assistant in in Jean-Luc Godard's Contempt. From 1955 till her retirement in the 1980s, Moll appeared in nearly 50 Italian films, and a handful of TV shows. Later, she became a photographer, and retired from the spotlight. Writer Giorgia Tedesco notes, “She was neither the 1950s bombshell nor the politically engaged intellectual of the 1970s. Giorgia Moll occupied the middle ground: beautiful yet possessing a sense of irony; European before it was fashionable; capable of moving from Mankiewicz to Godard, from Carosello to Ciampi, without ever losing her integrity.”
