YouTube, Instagram and TikTok star Girlala, 21, was shot and killed by her boyfriend in Lauderdale Lakes, Florida, on Nov. 17. Girlala worked as a hairstylist, and her videos mostly involved wigs—I had never heard of her, though I am obsessed with the Crazy Wig Lady’s videos. Girlala’s TikTok account had 300,000 followers, though searching for her now mostly turns up stories about her being “unalived” (is that a new slang expression? Because it is unintentionally hilarious) by her abusive boyfriend of three years (he is now in jail). Rapper JT—a friend of Girlala’s—is paying for her funeral expenses. “When you look good, you feel good, when you feel good, you play good,” Girlala posted last year. “We got one life to live have a BAWLLL.”
PS Several hip, with-it friends explained to me that actual words, like murder or rape, will cause people to instantly rush out and murder and rape everyone they see, so "unalived" is to avoid blockers on websites. The kind of stupidity that makes me want to unalive myself.
