German actor Horst Janson, who also appeared in US-released films, died this month, Bild announced. He was best known in the US for playing the title role in the enjoyably cheesy Captain Kronos: Vampire Hunter, and also appeared in You Can’t Win ‘em All, Murphy’s War (the 1971 version), No Time to Die, The Iron Cross (with Richard Burton and Robert Mitchum), The Last Days of Patton, and the 1959 version of The Buddenbrooks. Janson had his first big break in 1960’s The Glass of Water, and through that decade worked his way up to leading man. He continued acting through 2022’s The Privilege. Janson was married twice (including to actress Monika Lundi) and his two daughters, Sarah-Jane Janson and Laura-Maria Janson, are actresses.
