Actor James (also billed as Jim) Mitchum, 84, died on Sept. 20. The son of actor Robert Mitchum, he made his credited film debut as his father’s brother in Thunder Road (1958), and went on to appear in many films and TV shows through the early 1990s. He never became a star—his resemblance to his father didn’t help—but Mitchum had a steady career in such vehicles as The Beat Generation, Girls Town, Young Guns of Texas, The Victors, Ride the Wild Surf, Ambush Bay, The Last Time I Saw Archie, The High Chaparral, The Last Movie, Enemy, and Stickfighter. After leaving acting, Mitchum managed his parents’ horse ranch in Paradise Valley, Arizona (he also manufactured Robert’s Rye whiskey). Mitchum’s brother Christopher also became an actor; his first wife, Wende Wagner, was an actress in the 1960s.

I had a crush on Wende Wagner when I watched "The Green Hornet"! (Van Williams was very easy on the eyes, too!) I also remember her as a contestant on "What's My Line" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=efQ1rcj8QtY
