Child actor Jimmy Hunt (Invaders from Mars), 85, died on July 18. Hunt was scooped out of second grade by MGM and signed up, playing bigger and bigger parts in The Mating of Millie, The Fuller Brush Man, So This Is New York, Pitfall, Sorry Wrong Number, Cheaper by the Dozen (and its sequel, Belles on Their Toes), The Mating Season, and Wait Til the Sun Shines, Nellie. But his most memorable role was as the little boy who sees flying saucers in the still-creepy Invaders from Mars (1953). “I've made 42 movies, and I think there were other films that are probably better, but this is the one that I'm known for,” Hunt told ScreenRant. He added, “It was a fun movie to make, but it was the hardest movie I ever made, because we did it in such a short period of time. We did it like in three and a half weeks, so there was no standing still.” Hunt, who later worked as a sales manager for an industrial tool and supply company, also had a bit part in the 1986 Invaders remake.
