British rocker Joey Molland (the last surviving member of Badfinger), died on March 1; no cause of death has been announced. He was 77. The singer, pianist and guitarist played with various groups before joining Badfinger—a Welsh “power pop” group—in 1969 (he left the band in’74, though he and former bandmate Tom Evans recorded two albums under that name). Molland went on to play with such artists and bands as Peter Frampton, 10,000 Maniacs, George Harrison, Tod Rundgren, and Mickey Dolenz. He told Joe Bosso of Guitar World, “Badfinger gave me the opportunity to do everything a musician could want. I got to make records. I heard my music on the radio, and I toured all over. I couldn’t believe the luck we were having. For a time, everything was great. We had two people in the band take their own lives – that’s a tragedy on a human level. But I can’t think about ‘what might have been.’ You go crazy if you live your life like that.”
