Actor Jonathan Tiersten, 60, died at his New Jersey home, his family announced on May 5. He costarred in the 1983 slasher film Sleepaway Camp, also appearing in the sequel, Return to Sleepaway Camp. He also starred as a serial killer in The Perfect House (2012), and appeared in Sugar!, The House That Wept Blood (I hope they didn’t have carpeting), Blood Reservoir, Redemption, and the intriguingly titled Toilet Zombie Baby Strikes Back. Tiersten told writer Todd Martin, “In acting I can’t say that I have influences. I am a trained method actor. I went to Circle in The Square Theater School. I have to draw from within to create a character. Musically, I grew up playing classical French Horn, so classical music has had a great influence on me. I love Pink Floyd and Yes and Queen, but I also love The Cure and Gerry Rafferty (Stealer’s Wheel) and Boz Skaggs and The Blue Nile and Todd Rundgren.” Tiersten also led the rock bands Ten Tiers and Bambi’s Apartment.
