In addition to Messrs. Davies and Volman, below, the rock world has lost some additional stars recently. Bruce Loose (né Bruce Richard “Loose” Calderwood), 66, of the San Francisco punk rock and hardcore band Flipper, died on Sept. 5. “We’re just trying to show the absurdity of whatever it is we’re trying to show the absurdity of,” Loose said of the band, whom writer Jazz Monroe described as “anarchic and grumpy.” The death of Alan Blickle, 42, drummer for the Southern heavy metal band Baroness, was announced on Sept. 7. Blickle also drummed for the groups Romantic Dividends, A Place To Bury Strangers, and Alpaca. And drummer Atomic Steif (né Guido Richter) of Sodom, Holy Moses, and Living Death, 57, died on Sept. 6.
