Loyd Price, 1962 – 2026

British animator Loyd Price (not to be confused with the R&B singer of almost the same name) died on Sept. 22. He was 64. Price worked on Wallace and Gromit and Shaun the Sheep movies, TV shows and commercials, as well as A Close Shave, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Chicken Run, and Flushed Away (to be honest, I have no idea what he actually did: he is listed as “animator,” “animation supervisor,” and “character animator,” so your guess is as good as mine—nay, better). Price joined the animation company Aardman in 1994, also animating commercials for Chevron, Rice Krispies, Cadbury's, and Japanese Putchin' Pudding (I had to Google that, and it actually looks quite delicious). He also taught animation at the University of the West of England.
