TV actor Mark Dobies, mostly known for his soaps, died on March 11. He was 65; no cause of death has been announced. Dobies had continuing roles on Guiding Light and One Life to Live, also turning up on Just Shoot Me!, Home Improvement, Melrose Place, Everybody Loves Raymond, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, and Gossip Girl, among others. The Philadelphia native played college football for Delaware Valley College, and to eke put his paychecks, he worked as a personal trainer. Besides his TV work, Dobies appeared at The Public Theater in 2004 in The Normal Heart. Despite playing gay characters in that and One Life to Live, Dobies himself was straight, and had three children (his gay soap character was also a murderer, leading to much controversy).
