Mark Mortimer, 1967 – 2026

Another soap star gone! This time it’s Another World’s Mark Mortimer, 59, who died of cancer on Sept. 23. An “Army veteran, a model, an actor, an entrepreneur and a builder,” according to his family, Mortimer played Nick Hudson on Another World (the third actor to take on the role) from 1996-99. He was also seen in The Homecoming, Spin City, The $treet, Lethal, Killing Cupid, and Nowhere Man. He and his wife formed Integrative Access Foundation, a cancer-support group that deals in “hope, healing, caregiving, integrative therapies, family, faith, nutrition, resilience, and the moments of joy that somehow find us even in life's hardest seasons” (their website says they also deal in “integrative and alternative therapies,” which makes me raise my eyebrows suspiciously). When not acting, Mortimer paid the rent though his company, IOC Construction.
