Michael Byrne, 1943 – 2026

British stage, movie, and TV actor Michael Byrne, 82, died on June 20. The native Londoner had continuing roles on TV’s Coronation Street, Sarcen, Ruth Rendell Mysteries, A Sort of Innocence, Winter Sunlight, The Devil’s Crown, Headmaster, and Couples. On the big screen, Byrne played small or supporting roles in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Braveheart, Apt Pupil, The Good Father, Tomorrow Never Dies, The Saint, Gangs of New York, The Sum of All Fears, and Quartet. He also acted on the West End (Butley), and with the Bristol Old Vic and National Theatre Company. He is survived by his wife (since 1965), actress Carole Nimmons.
