German actress Monika Lundi, 82, died in late Feb. Born into a wartime orphanage, she trained as a graphic designer at the Berlin University of the Arts, but her looks soon got her modeling jobs (I’m assuming she was adopted somewhere in there). She began acting in the late ’60s, getting her big break in the comedy Das Go-Go-Girl vom Blow-Up (gawd I love that title). Lundi costarred in the TV series Von Liebe Keine Rede (1971), and had further successes in Grün ist die Heide, Sternschnuppe, Crazy - Total Verrückt, and Plonk (as Topsi!). One of her last vehicles was the 1990s TV series Alle Meine Töchter, as she aged gracefully into a Helen Mirren lookalike. Lundi’s private life was as colorful as her roles: she was married to actors Horst Janson and Hans Stetter, and director Hartmut Griesmayr; in 1979, she successfully prosecuted actor Burkhard Driest of rape.
