French stage, screen and TV actor Nicolas Beaucaire, 52, killed himself while hospitalized for depression, it was announced on Aug. 14. Beaucaire trained and performed as a dancer in France and the US. Returning to France, he became a regular presence onstage, in such shows as Anatol, Scapin, No No Nanette, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Puss in Boots, and Lord of the Flies, among others. He made his TV debut in 1999, and was seen in films (Teachers, Born in ’68, What Have We Done to God?, Elle, Five) and on TV (Two Women, Queen of Spades, H, The Bloodhounds, Tutankhamun, Ten Percent, Bardot, War of the Thrones). Monsieur Beaucaire was also one of the top dubbers in France, supplying French voices for CSI, Bones, The Big Bang Theory, Maigret, Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, The Mindy Project, and 12 Monkeys, as well as for many animated shows and movies. Beaucaire said that “From middle school, I was very attracted to everything that revolved around shows. I was part of a theater troupe at school, but at the same time, I was doing a lot of dance, and I also sang in a choir . . . as an adult, I first did musical school in New York, before performing exclusively in theater in Paris, first at Cours Simon, then at Studio Pygmalion.” As for hobbies, “It's a bit silly what I'm going to say, but my hobby is my job, so the more I work the more I'm happy.”
