TV actor Scott Bryce, 68, who played Corky’s husband Will Forrest on Murphy Brown and Craig Montgomery on As the World Turns, died of cancer on July 12. The native New Yorker started his career on TV in the late ’80s, and soon became a familiar face, appearing in The Golden Girls, The Facts of Life, The Commish, Dear John, L.A. Law, Sex and the City, Judging Amy, Gossip Girl, Beacon Hill, Blue Bloods, and Law & Order; he also played the hapless dad on one of my favorite series, the amazing Popular. Bryce is survived by his wife, actress Jodi Stevens, and their son. He was also active in regional theater, and said, “The magic of theater is that a group of people who don’t know each other, all enter a room and take seats. They’re completely oblivious to each other. And if the play starts, if it’s good enough, there’s a moment in which all of those people become one thing. And there’s a shared experience of humanity that we are all experiencing. There’s a great hope in that, because it truly is the best of humanity.”
