Slaine Kelly, 1982 – 2026

Irish actress Slaine Kelly, 43, died of cancer on July 4. Kelly was best-known in the US for playing Jane Howard in the 2008-10 miniseries The Tudors. Kelly started her career in several short films, two of which were nominated for various festival awards. She also appeared in TV commercials (most notably for Barry's Tea), and costarred in the 2013 film The Best Years. From 2004-16, Kelly showed up in such films and TV shows as Podge and Rodge, The Last Furlong, Studs, Raw, Psychosis, Comedown, The O’Briens, and Split. Writer and director Damien de Burca wrote, “I had the pleasure of working with her on my film Jack's Hat many years ago, and later co-produced another short film in which she played the lead. She was a talented actress and always friendly, approachable and a pleasure to work with.”
