Stephen Mendillo, 1940 – 2025

Actor Stephen Mendillo, 84, died on Sept. 3. Mendillo appeared in John Sayles’s Lianna, City of Hope, Eight Men Out, and Lone Star; he could also be seen in Slap Shot, Rollercoaster, Ryan’s Hope, Broadcast News, Kate & Allie, The First Wives Club, G.I. Jane, Star Trek: Enterprise, and The Artist, among others. He was often cast as tough guys, due to his hockey-player’s face (Mendillo grew up playing hockey, a skill that eventually came in handy for Slap Shot). His second wife was actress Lisa Blake Richards; his son is actor/producer Tag Mendillo.
