TV writer and producer Ted Mann, 72, died of lung cancer on Sept. 4. Often teaming with David Milch, Mann won an Emmy for NYPD Blue, and wrote and/or produced such TV shows as Wise Guy, Civil Wars, Deadwood, John from Cincinnati, Crash, and Homeland, as well as writing screenplays for O.C. and Stiggs, Space Truckers, and the 1979 National Lampoon parody Disco Beaver from Outer Space (Mann started his career with the Lampoon). Mann also wrote episodes of Miami Vice, Max Monroe, Millennium, Brooklyn South, and Judging Amy.
