Singer Tommy Hunt (The Flamingos), 91, died on Feb. 12. Hunt was already singing with the Five Echoes, when he replaced The Flamingos’ departing Zeke Carey, staying with the group till 1961. Hunt was heard on their biggest hit, 1957’s “I Only Have Eyes for You” (a cover of the 1933 Dames song). His other hits included "Human” and "I Just Don't Know What to Do with Myself.” As a soloist, Hunt played the Apollo, and was a popular act (in person and recording) in Belgium, Germany, and the UK. His memoirs, Only Human, My Soulful Life, were released in 2008. Hunt told interviewer Gary James, “I used to buy records and sing up and down the streets and sing for my friends and sing in school and sing in church. I was always singing whenever you saw me. There was a song coming out of my mouth. That passion was there and it's still there.”
