Austrian actress and singer Waltraut Haas, 97, died on April 23. She became a star in Willi Forst’s 1947 film Counsellor Geiger, and went on to appear in theater, films, and eventually TV. Her vehicles (most of them comedies or musicals) included It’s In the Air (a remake of a Weimar-era Marlene Dietrich play), Hello Dienstmann, If the Father and the Son, The Black Stallion, Mariandl and Mariandl's Homecoming (sequels to Counsellor Geiger), The White Horse Inn, The 42nd Heaven, Happy-End in St. Gilgen, and Don't Worry Darling, I'll Watch Out! Haas was married from 1966 till his 2011 death to frequent costar Erwin Strahl; their son, Marcus Strahl, is an actor and director.
