Australian actor David Argue died of cancer on July 30. He was 65. He began his career costarring in the TV series The Restless Years, and went on to play recurring roles in Cop Shop and Halfway Across the Galaxy and Turn Left. Argue got his first big film role as Snowy in Gallipoli (1981), and went on to appear in such films as Going Down, BMX Bandits, Razorbacks, Backlash, Blood Oath, Pirates Island, Hercules Returns, Cluedo, Angel Baby, Water Rats, and On the Beach. He also worked as a comedian and ice skater (his parents were both ice skaters, so that was a given). IMDb notes that Argue was “often considered difficult to deal with, he was fired from the sets of Phar Lap, Fortunate Life and Great Expectations,” and I nearly bust a garter not making a joke about his name.
