Model Dayle Haddon, 76, died on Dec. 27 from a carbon monoxide leak (defective boiler) in her 18th-century Pennsylvania home. The Montreal native became a supermodel in the 1970s-80s, the face (and body) for such brands as Max Factor, Revlon, Estée Lauder, and L'Oréal, and a cover girl on numerous magazines. She also acted, in The World’s Greatest Athlete, North Dallas Forty, Max Headroom, and Bullets Over Broadway, among other vehicles. Haddon was an ambassador UNICEF, and founded WomenOne, which creates educational opportunities for girls and women; she also wrote for More magazine, when Your Faithful Correspondent was copy chief there. “I’m not a model who ever thought the industry is dumb,” Haddon said. “I loved it, and I found it was more about ability, communication and reaching to the audience through the camera. Great photographers are great artists and I’ve been fortunate to work with many of them. It’s extremely satisfying working with talented people.”

I remember her as being glamorous and pleasant, but always late with her articles!
