Gloria Carlin, 1942 – 2026

Canadian actress Gloria Carlin, 84, died on Aug. 5. She was married (since 1963) to screenwriter Lionel Chetwynd, she appeared in his movie and TV projects The Hanoi Hilton, So Proudly We Hail, Goldenrod, Two Solitiudes, Evil in Clear River, and Color of Justice, among others. Born in Montreal, Carlin acted in the theater in her hometown and in New York (she also appeared on London’s West End in Chetwynd’s play Maybe That’s Your Problem). She was also seen in Cagney & Lacey, E/R, General Hospital, Murder in Space, and Knots Landing. Carlin was “A successful actress, loving wife and mother, doting grandmother and a devoted friend to so many,” her family wrote. “She prioritized joy in both her life and the lives of the people around her. Simply put, she lived a complete life.”
