Singer and actress Jane Morgan, 101, has died, it was announced on Aug. 4. As a pop and big band singer, Morgan first found success in post-War France, then began recording in the US and appearing on American TV in the 1950s and ‘60s. Besides her concert and variety appearances, Morgan acted on TV (Peter Gunn, It Takes a Thief) and on Broadway (Ziegfeld Follies of 1957, Mame). She recorded more than 20 albums between 1956-70, her hit singles including "Two Different Worlds," "Fascination," The Day the Rains Came," "I Am a Heart," "Elusive Butterfly," and "Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye." “’Fascination’ was the song that put me over the top as a recording artist,” Morgan recalled in 2021. “I got paid for every performance of it that was ever played—if it was in a movie, if it was in a TV show, even if it was in a commercial for a TV show. Let’s say I was going to do Ed Sullivan, and he might want to put a clip of me singing ‘Fascination’ in an ad for The Ed Sullivan Show—I got paid for that. Now you don’t get paid for anything.”

Allan Sherman ruined "Fascination" for me, I always sing his "Automation" when I hear it.
Of course, I remember the beautiful song, "Fascination" being played as Luke and Laura were dancing before he raped her in "General Hospital". I believe that was an instrumental version. Jane Morgan used to make a lot of appearances all over television including Ed Sullivan and other variety shows. She was a very pretty and gracious lady with a lovely singing voice. I always got her mixed up with Jaye P Morgan. I believe that they both appeared on game shows back in the '60s and '70s. Coincidentally, many years ago, there was an actress named Jane Morgan who appeared as Eve Arden's landlady in "Our Miss Brooks".
