Actress Kelley Mack (The Walking Dead, Universal), 33, died of cancer on Aug. 2. Mack began working in commercials as a child, and attended the Tisch School of the Arts. In the mid-2010s, she began showing up on TV and in films (Usual Suspects, Wheels on the Bus, Nasty Habits, Profile, Long Distance Trip, 9-1-1, Chicago Med, and as Addy in five episodes of The Walking Dead—Addy, not surprisingly, came to a bad end). Mack was also interested in production, and produced, wrote, and directed several shorts and indie films (spell-check tried to change that to “undie films”), most recently this year’s Universal. “I do like working on indie films more,” she said, “though, just because you have so much more say, there’s more risk, and you put your heart into it. The short films that I’ve produced were written based around the locations we had available. So you start from there, then you have to get all your crew together. And if you’re really trying to keep it under budget, it’s definitely more challenging because you’re doing five million jobs on set.”
