Kimmarie Johnson, 1976 – 2026
Model and beauty queen turned actress and skincare mogul Kimmarie Johnson, 50, died on Nov. 4, of an aortic aneurysm. Johnson was working as a print model (Vidal Sassoon, Oscar de la Renta, Benetton) when she was crowned Miss Pennsylvania USA (1992) and Miss USA (1993). She segued into acting, appearing in such films and TV shows as Dude, Where’s My Car?, Beverly Hills 90210, Shadow Fury, Wanda at Large, Gang Warz, Break a Leg, Diary of a Tired Black Man, Legacy, The Summer of Massacre, and Tucker’s War. Seeing that major roles weren’t coming her way, Johnson took the reins and studied with The Groundlings, taking stage roles and producing the 2005 film The Last Eve. In 2011, she launched the skincare and beauty line SkinGlow by Kimmarie. “Self-care begins with being still, hearing what the body says and acting accordingly,” Johnson said (my body, which is pretty much an idiot, keeps telling me to order Chinese food). “The three qualities that I believe are most impactful for good successes are to be become resilient. Knowing through obstacles that you have to keep on keeping on, being consistent and show up. Mainly for yourself. Education. Educating oneself and taking your own advice.”
