Martyn Ravenhill, owner of the jaw-dropping Liberace Mansion in Las Vegas, has died, according to the Liberace Fans Facebook page (I have no idea how old he was, and the news of his death is purely “Facebook” at this point). In 2013, Ravenhill bought the decaying Liberace house at 4982 Shirley Street, and poured millions into renovating it (the house was declared an historic landmark in 2016). The British-born Ravenhill made his fortune in the “Vacation Ownership Industry” (that’s timeshares, isn’t it? I bet it’s timeshares). He also wrote the self-help book The Social Stockmarket. Of the Liberace house, he said, “There is so much history here. It’s so important to keep his memory alive for Las Vegas and his fans.” Ravenhill added that Liberace the Friendly Ghost haunted the place: “I hope he would say, ‘Well done, Martyn.’ I think he would be pleased with what I’ve done. I tried to be respectful and close to how he had it. I feel that is why he frequents us with his spirit. You can feel it when you walk in the door. There is a light in here, and it’s because he’s here.”
