Actress Michelle Trachtenberg, 39, was found dead in her New York apt. on Feb. 26. No cause was announced but Trachtenberg had recently undergone a liver transplant. She was best known as a kid in the title role of Harriet the Spy and in The Adventures of Pete and Pete; as she aged, Trachtenberg held onto her fame as the sketchy Georgina on Gossip Girl (“It's super fun to play the bad girl”), and as lead Sarah Michelle Geller’s sister on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Her other vehicles included All My Children, Meego, Inspector Gadget, Six Feet Under, House, Mercy, Weeds, Guidance, and Robot Chicken. Trachtenberg once said that “I think life is like high school. I don't necessarily know that it pertains to Gossip Girl because that is obviously an extreme fabrication of the most glorious life. But I do think that life, in general, is definitely like high school and you never get out of it. You just have to stay strong.” On being an underage sex symbol, she said, “It's really creepy. I heard that there were ‘Trachtenberg to 18’ counters. Even at the time, I was like, ‘You're never gonna get a chance! So what's your counter for?”
