Brazilian TV star Ney Latorraca, 80, died on Dec. 26. The son of a casino singer and a chorine, he began his career as a child. He soon moved on to adult roles in theater, TV and movies. He had great success onstage with the Brazilian production of The Mystery of Irma Vep, which ran for 11 years. Although he made movies as well, Latorraca was particularly active on TV; he had costarring roles in the TV series Escalada, O Grito, Estúpido Cupido, Elas por Elas, Rabo-de-Saia, Um Sonho a Mais, Brasileiras e Brasileiros, Vamp, Éramos Seis, and Negócio da China, among other. Latorraca is survived by his husband of more than 20 years, actor Edi Botelho.
