Playwright and screenwriter Rose Leiman Goldemberg, 97, died on July 21. She wrote two TV-movies featuring offbeat star turns: Farrah Fawcett as an abused wife in The Burning Bed (1984), and Lucille Ball as a homeless woman in The Stone Pillow (1985). Goldemberg wrote numerous plays, including biographical shows about Sophie Tucker and Molly Picon. Her other TV-movies (all from the 1970s-80s) included The Land of Hope, Mother and Daughter: The Loving War, Born Beautiful, Florence Nightingale, The Booth, Letters Home (from her play about Sylvia Plath), and Dark Holiday. Goldemberg was also a poet, and writer of short stories.
