Jewelry designer and reality-TV star Lynn Ban, 51, died on Jan. 20. Ban had suffered a skiing accident in December, and was diagnosed with a brain bleed, like poor Natasha Richardson—while Richardson died within a day, Ban was in and out of hospitals for a month. The Singaporean jewelry designer provided accessories for such stars as Rihanna, Billie Eilish, Grimes, and Beyoncé, and costarred in the Netflix series Bling Empire: New York, which followed a group of Asian jewelry designers. She started her career buying and selling vintage fashions, and formed Lynn Ban Jewelry in 2011. “In the beginning, the jewelers were a bit taken aback by the hard edge and unconventional designs but over time, they really embraced my aesthetic,” Ban said of her work. “The years of studying and researching the past cultivated a desire to create something in the present too.”
