
Actress and Swedish royal Marianne Bernadotte (aka Princess Bernadotte, Countess of Wisborg), 100, died on May 16 (the same day as 100-year-old Swedish actress Meta Velander!). As Marianne Lindberg, she attended the Royal Dramatic Training Academy, and performed regularly (usually in dramatic roles) at the at the Royal Dramatic Theater in Stockholm). She also appeared in five films and TV-movies in the 1950s. In 1961 she married Sigvard Bernadotte, the second son of King Gustaf VI Adolf of Sweden, and gave up the show business. Princess Bernadotte became a gourmet cook, training at Le Cordon Bleu; she was a friend of Pierre Balmain and was a noted fashion plate; she was also very active in charities and projects concerning such handicaps as dyslexia, eye problems, and lack of mobility. Bernadotte had previously been married to the son of a former Chinese ambassador to Sweden, Tchang Tsou Seng.
