Scottish actor Alexander Morton, 81, has died, his family announced on April 15. Morton costarred as Golly Mackenzie on Monarch of the Glen (2000-05), also playing continuing roles in Cloud Howe, Winners and Losers, Take the High Road, Firm Friends, and Taggart. Morton co-founded Glasgow’s Raindog Theatre Company, and played everything from Shakespeare to One Flew Over the Cuckooo’s Nest. He was also seen in the films Get Carter, Silent Scream (a horror film, not that anti-abortion drivel), Croupier, London to Brighton, and Up There. Costar Robert Carlyle posted, “Not only a brilliant actor, but one of the kindest men I ever knew. His unique, naturalistic style was a thing of beauty. So real that you would forget he was even acting at all. I've never seen anyone do it better than Sandy.”
